It could have been a chalice cast of gold. It could have been a trophy as tall as my mini-van, and I could not have valued it more.
For me the memory is clear.
On the Sunday in 2005 I earned my State Referee badge, I also won a USSF mug in the clinic raffle. That mug took on significance beyond utility, beyond commodity. It could have been a chalice cast of gold. It could have been a trophy as tall as my mini-van, and I could not have valued it more.
What makes a cup more than a cup, can make a shirt more than a t-shirt. We don't know if this is how the man feels, but here is the recipient of the USSF shirt that was passed on to the Instructors as a gift to students.
Update: The shirt is New from USSF and is part of the Centennial Collection.
