Under 9 Team: Barnett Ford Stars
 Aquaria Albano

Aquaria
is one of three players--along with Vlada and Sawyer--on the Stars' game roster who is a training league player called up to play games.  Training league players are transitioning into game-ready status.  They may be six or seven years of age and need some development to effectively deal with the pace of the competitive Under 9 game.

Yet when Athens Soccer Academy decided to enter a team to help out the bracket, these players got a call to start showing up on Saturdays for games.  With their parents' permission they took the field, and without further hesitation showed that they belong on the field with the team.

Here is to one of the young training league ladies who got her first goal of the season.

Congratulations Aquaria Sol Albano !!!!!

Under 12 Girls: Lady Tigers
Elizabeth O' Neill

Lizzy! She has improved tremendously thus far this season. She has clearly been working on her own to improve her skill set and listening to the advice of her coaches. Lizzy is a very coachable player and someone which Lauren and I truly enjoy to work with. --Coach Sam

Under 12 Boys: Academy Little Professionals
Krestian Robe
&
Wesley Dodrill

Krestian Robe
is a player worth his weight in gold for this team.  Krestian plays as the last defender.  When he is in the game, the opponent has a difficult time getting into our defending third

Krestian played a huge role as the Academy Little Professionals allowed just one goal in two games this past Saturday in Logan.

After several muted attempts, the opponents typically give up sending long, straight balls into our zone, as Krestian handles those with ease and sends them forward for our attackers.

So the opponents will then attack the flank, avoiding Krestian, and they will send balls across the face of our goal.  This is how the goal-against happened Saturday.  A difficult ball to handle came across the face of the goal, our keeper came forward but didn't touch the cross.  The opponent had a perfectly timed runner to the far post, and we went down 0-1.  Hands together for our Under 12 opponent OTSC, you give us a great game.

It was the second half and we had the wind blowing in to our goal.  We needed Krestian to continue to do the same game that brought him this fame, and he did.  He and our back five held the opponents to no more goals....Now it was time for our attackers to do their part...

Wesley Dodrill--Wesley D. has been knocking on the door of player of the week all season; a consistent threat in our attack, Wes polished off a solid week with a crucial finish for his team.

Wesley Dodrill has played as an attacking midfielder for most of the Spring 2013 season.  He should have won this award after week four when he filled in as last defender and did an outstanding job.

Yet his coach held off on awarding this guy, perhaps because it was clear he would continue to train and play at the highest level.

His versatility is a result of his technical skill and his discipline combined with speed and athleticism.  Wesley has taken advantage of Athens Soccer Academy's Individual Training in the summer months to perfect his techniques.

He has a lot to offer as a student of the game and as an athlete and he has worked hard.  Wesley epitomizes what playing at the higher levels requires.

Congratulations, Wesley Dodrill!!!

Players like Wesley are a pleasure to coach because they tune into the task at hand during training, and yet have such a keen sense of personality when we relax and hang out as a team.

Each Week the Player(s) of the Week gets to choose a mini-ball of their choice from the mini-ball bag.

These balls become their property, and Athens Soccer Academy hopes they continue to train, have fun, and achieve success in the game.
