Academy weeks 9, 10, 11 Fall 2015

Once again the Academy teams were proudly on display this past weekend in Logan.  The Under 10 Black Pearls played without fear and without four players--some big names--and had some huge performances from the players who all stepped up.  The Under 12 Red Dragons beat teams that they have lost to before, and had a player score 5 Goals is 2 Games!

Congratulations Amora Albano for Leadership on the field...So two weeks ago in Marietta, Amora was playing as last defender, when she took a ball coast to coast--dribbling all of the opponents on the way--only to shoot into the outside of the net.
One week later, with increased confidence, Amora took off into the space behind the defenders--who had "pushed up to halfway line", and made a bee line to goal.  This time she came straight onto the goal, and tucked a perfectly finished ball to the right side of the keeper.

Minutes later she repeated this, and five times on the day, she would find herself in front of frame, and finishing--using accuracy rather than power--with composure.  The Colombian referees were impressed, and I say it goes to show--ASA works!

--Training Schedules stay the same this week.
--No Games this Saturday--The league has an all teams "BYE"--so rest up and mow that grass, already.
--Under 12 Team Captains for this and next week--Erik Dabelko and Karma Fugate--Erik is showing maturity and leadership skills on the field, and Karma has burst onto the scene as a new player to soccer, and she is something to watch.
Congratulations Captains--You have earned the team's push-ups!
--Indoor Soccer Update--The details for Local Training/ Competition Teams/ and Elite Training in Parkersburg are all listed here

Remember Indoor is the training ground for your balltouch--

Hope to see everyone this week.  The SOSL Schedule has us in Logan on October 24, Look for Game times when the schedule is available.

Also we will be hosting--at least at this point-- the first ever SOSL Tournament on October 31 and November 1.  Kate Cottrill-- whose e-address is listed above twice-- will be taking your names and information /organizing the schedule and the baked goods. Message her with what you can donate and when you can staff our Rocking tent.

We raised $230 in our first effort.  Thanks to Kate and the Concessions Team for this tremendous new addition to the Academy experience.  The tent was a huge success and Academy teams had a hub where to hang with friends.
Finally, Our team CupCake Parties/Soccer Swapluck will be held on the last day of trainings in October.  The Under 12 team's may conflict with the Halloween Trick or Treat, October 29th, and as enticing as that sounds, we should probably have our last training Tuesday October 27th.

One SemiFinal Note--Coaching them in their games changed this weekend. I still have to coach to maintain our shape and our marking assignments, however, the team has begun to cycle through all of the stuff we have worked on this year.

So our kids have a general understanding of the system. they feel comfortable knowing where to be and how to try and succeed.  They have begun to self- monitor and self-correct, and to watch this happen as a result of all the trainings makes this/my work among the most satisfying, hands down...
Thank you again for the experience of working with your child.  Soccer is my tool to make friends, and I am popular to the extent the training works.  I will be a resource in soccer for years to come, so don't hesitate to look me up when they need their first letter of recommendation or training for their first job as soccer Referee.

Please update me on your plans this winter and spring.

Play with the indoor team or sit out the winter and join us in again for SOSL in spring; let me know which next way you will go.

I hope to see you in Albany on November 10.
ASA all the way!
--Tad
