Athens Soccer Park: 1st day as Groundscrew

Today we visited the home park where the games are played.

The fields are cleared for aeration and seeding, but Athens Soccer Academy needs to squeeze a training and a first Adult Cup & Women's League Sunday around that grounds schedule.

The restaurant near the field sends the workers here on breaks.  We anchor the goals and clear some cups and sticks from the ground.

We set the goals we need for tonight's training at the penalty area to protect the goal area grass.  On Sunday when these fields get "dressed" for games, these goals will be moved to their proper place on the goal line and anchored.

Thankfully the Recreation Department has painted the fields, so we are spared time walking behind the machine today.

I hope they will allow us to widen the center circle radius.

Plastic and sand anchor these goals against uneven grounds and wind.

This is a goal area we want to protect.  The goal is slid up to the penalty area for trainings.

This goal area needs some recovery.

With the goal moved up to the penalty area, we have some nice grass for finishing.

Worker's Reward...
